It's time to make a start

After all the years of reading other blogs online and thinking I should probably start my own one, I have now found the time in my life to sit down and craft some thoughts in writing about life, experiences and opinions.

So why have I not created a blog before now? To write a blog takes time and commitment and I have lived a very busy life. As we go through life we have a habit of taking time for granted and not making time to reflect on what we have achieved or experienced.

Living For The Now...

We often live for the now and worry about tomorrow instead of enjoying the moment we are in and taking time to reflect what we have achieved and where we have come from. The upside to never stopping and always being on the go is there is plenty to tell and some great stories to relive. People often worry about being perfect and look at others who may have achieved something in their life as and 'idol' or 'perfection', but let me assure you I have rubbed shoulders with the rich and famous throughout my life and witnessed the there is no such thing as perfection. Anyone who portrays to live the perfect life is quite frankly living a lie and is covering up for something that is not quite right. I do not see myself as perfect or better than others, in fact I see myself as a well rounded individual who has learnt many things in life through making mistakes, getting it wrong and dealing with the consequences. Living for the now and making sure you take in everything you are currently doing is a vital part of being alive, because without the now there is no past or story to tell. History would become very bland if we always focused on tomorrow and didn't put some of our attention on what we are doing right here and now in our current day of life.

Keeping A Diary...

I have never been one to keep a diary in my life and write down my thoughts, sure I have used a diary and still do on a daily basis to make sure I don't forget things such as birthdays, meetings and booking the car in for a service etc, but a diary where you sit and collect your thoughts in a string of words? No, that has never been for me and back when I was younger I had friends who would go home and frantically write things down that had happened to them and how they were feeling when their partner forgot their birthday. I often looked at these people and wondered why I didn't have the urge to go home and do this, why did I not have anything to write down? Was I different to everyone else? Was I not clever enough to be able to translate my thoughts and emotions into words? Of course now looking back I can understand why it didn't appeal to me as I had never been one to sit and read a book, let alone write some words down on feelings and emotions. As with everything in life you grow and evolve and develop new skills and along the way I have gathered plenty of material to start writing. It's one of the things you often joke about as an adult "When I write my book this is certainly going in it" we will jest. I suppose this blog then will be my book, a mixture of stories and tales, emotions and revelations, both from the past and the present. Let's see what I can commit to words and see if maybe one day it could be enough to gather together and compile a book.

So, Time For A Blog...

Let's get the ball rolling and start this blog of mine. I will endeavour to share as much or as little as I feel comfortable with in public about my life, what I have achieved over the years and also how it has often not gone to plan. Where did I learn from my mistakes, how did I get to where I am now and relive some of the highlights.
